What an MCP server in a CRM does#
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting an AI client to an app. A CRM’s MCP server gives your agent a list of tools: read a contact, move a deal, publish a form. You add the server’s address to Claude, Claude Code or Cursor and sign in. From then on you can ask your agent for CRM work in plain words, and it calls the tools with your permissions.
Connect Claude Code in one line#
claude mcp add --transport http tommos https://app.tommos.ai/api/mcpRun /mcp in Claude Code and authenticate. The browser opens app.tommos.ai; you sign in and press Allow. In Claude on the web or desktop, add the same address as a custom connector. Any other MCP client takes it as a remote HTTP server. Step by step, with roles and API keys.
Ask Claude for CRM work in plain words#
Tommos has over 100 tools. A few requests you can type today, and what your agent does with them.
| What | Your agent |
|---|---|
| «Who came in through the website this week?» | Pulls the new contacts, bookings and deals for the dates you name. |
| «Where does the Acme deal stand?» | Reads each open task on the deal: the tommo's last step, what it is waiting on, when it checks again. |
| «Move Acme to Proposal and set the amount to $24,000.» | Moves the deal and updates it, by the same rules as the screen. A deal moved to Lost needs a reason from your list. |
| «Show me what waits for my decision, then approve Dana's recap with a shorter second paragraph.» | Lists the emails and changes waiting for your decision, edits the email as you say, and approves it in your name. |
| «Stop all email to this lead until the 20th.» | Pauses outreach. No tommo writes to that person until you resume it. |
| «Make a quote form for the pricing page and give me the embed code.» | Creates the form, publishes it and returns the code to paste. |
| «Tell Tommo Closer the client wants a fixed price.» | Writes to the tommo on the deal, signed by you. The tommo reads it at once. |
Each change lands on the contact’s timeline with your name and «through MCP». A deleted contact or deal comes back within 30 days.
Your agent prepares the work. You decide what sends on its own.#
- Outgoing email waits for a signed-in person. A tommo drafts each email as a card: a decision with send, change or skip. Claude signed in as you can approve a card in your name. An API key with no person behind it can read cards and refuse them, never approve one.
- A tommo can earn the right to send. After 12 approvals in a row of one kind of email with nothing to fix, a tommo asks to send that kind on its own. A person switches it on, on a paid plan.
- Money stays with the owner. Your agent can ask the owners to choose a plan. Only an owner pays.
Claude can create your Tommos account for you#
Ask your agent to set up a CRM, and it can call create_workspace with your company’s name and your work address. Your workspace (your company’s account) opens at once. Tommos sends nothing and charges nothing until you confirm your address from the email we send you. Then you sign in, and your agent works as you. One workspace per company domain; a Gmail or other public address does not qualify.
Why teams connect their agent to Tommos#
- Claude walks into work already done. The tommos have answered the inquiry, booked the call and drafted the proposal on the same record. Ask «where does the Acme deal stand?» and Claude reads the tommo’s last step, what it waits on and when it checks again.
- One price, with the agents inside. $299 a month for any number of people, the AI model included: no seats, no credits, no API key of your own.
- Every move is on the record. Each change Claude makes carries your name and «through MCP» on the timeline, and a deleted contact or deal comes back within 30 days. You can hand Claude real work and still see every step.
Questions about Tommos and MCP#
- Can Claude update my CRM?
- Yes. Connect Claude or Claude Code to app.tommos.ai/api/mcp and sign in once. Claude can then create and update contacts and deals, move deals between stages, publish forms and booking pages, and write to a tommo on a deal. It works with your role, so a Viewer's agent only reads.
- Does Tommos work with ChatGPT or Cursor?
- Our setup notes cover Claude, Claude Code and Cursor. Any client that connects a remote MCP server over streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in should connect the same way. We have not published a ChatGPT guide yet.
- Can my agent send emails to leads through MCP?
- Claude signed in as you can approve an email a tommo drafted, and the email goes out in your name. An agent on an API key can read and refuse emails, never approve them. The record shows who approved each email and that it came through MCP.
- Can an AI agent sign up for a CRM by itself?
- In Tommos, yes. Your agent calls create_workspace with your company and your work address. Tommos sends nothing and charges nothing until you confirm your address. Only an owner pays for a plan.
- Which plan includes the MCP server?
- Every plan: Book ($299 a month), Close ($599) and Sign ($899), plus the 14-day free trial, no card needed. Plans count no seats and include 50 new leads a month. The AI model comes in the price, so you need no API key of your own.
- Can I undo what Claude did?
- Each change sits on the contact's timeline with your name and «through MCP», so you can see it and set it back. A contact or deal that Claude deletes comes back with one call or one click within 30 days.
- What do I need to start?
- A Google Workspace account. The tommos write from your Gmail and book on your Google Calendar with a Meet link. Sign in with Google, and Tommo reads the last 30 days of your email and meetings and opens a record for each conversation still open, up to 50. Then add the MCP address to Claude.
- What can an agent do with an API key?
- An owner issues a key in Settings with only the rights it needs, and revokes it there. A key suits an agent with no person behind it, such as a scheduled job. A key can read and refuse cards; it cannot approve one.
