Tommos and Spellbook, side by side#
We took each Spellbook cell from Spellbook’s own pages on Oct 8, 2026; the number after a cell names the page.
| What | Tommos | Spellbook |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A CRM whose AI agents take an inquiry to a signed contract and a paid invoice | AI contract review and drafting for law firms and in-house legal teams12 |
| Who it is for | The owner of a services firm, 1 to 50 people, who signs the firm's client contracts | Lawyers: “Designed for law firms and in-house teams”; its trial form asks “Are you a legal professional?”1 |
| Where it works | On the deal in your CRM, with the papers in your Google Drive; a Word file from the client gets its changes tracked in that file | Inside Microsoft Word as an add-in; its Ask research also runs in Google Docs36 |
| When the review starts | When the client's paper lands on the deal: Tommo Closer reads it and asks Tommo Legal for a review | When a lawyer runs it in Word. Its new ACM product, offered as early access, takes contracts in from email and Slack17 |
| The client's MSA | Tommo Legal: a memo clause by clause, only where their words depart from your positions, with the wording to send back and “worth a lawyer” on each point; tracked changes when it is a Word file. Research, not legal advice (Sign) | Redline and comment suggestions in Word that “favor your party”; compares terms with “thousands of similar agreements”35 |
| Your positions | Written once for the firm on Tommo Legal's page: your cap, payment terms, what you keep, the law you accept | Playbooks: “Encode your legal standards”13 |
| Your SOW and NDA | Tommo Legal drafts each one as a Google Doc from your template in your Drive, with the scope, price and dates from your estimate (Sign) | Drafts clauses and documents from scratch or from your precedents and clause library4 |
| Your signature | A person you allow to sign presses Sign; your signature goes on the PDF; the signed copy is kept in the client's folder in your Drive (Sign) | Not on Spellbook's pages123 |
| The deal around the paper | Tommo SDR answers the inquiry and books the call (every plan); Tommo Closer writes the recap, the proposal and the follow-ups (Close and up) | Not a CRM; connects to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint, iManage and Slack8 |
| Invoices | After the deal is won, Tommo Closer reads the signed paper, proposes the payment schedule and each invoice through Mercury (Sign) | Not on Spellbook's pages12 |
| How you pay | Per firm, no seats: Book $299, Close $599, Sign $899 a month; a year 20% off; the AI model included | Not published: “Our pricing is structured around the number of team members on your license”; a quote after a demo1 |
| Trial | 14 days of everything, no card; sign in with Google | 7 days free; extended trials may be available for larger organizations1 |

One client MSA, from the inbox to the signed SOW#
A made-up deal, the same in both columns: a 12-person engineering firm, and a manufacturer whose legal team sends its own 28-page MSA after the call. The plan that does each step in Tommos is in brackets.
- 1
The deal before the paperBook, Close
In Tommos, Tommo SDR answered the inquiry and booked the call, and Tommo Closer wrote the recap and the proposal from your estimate: 14 weeks at $96,000. With Spellbook, this part of the deal lives in your inbox and your CRM; Spellbook starts when there is a contract to open.3
- 2
Their MSA arrivesSign
The client’s legal team emails the MSA as a Word file. In Tommos, Tommo Closer reads it on the deal and asks Tommo Legal for a review. Tommo Legal reads it clause by clause against your positions on liability, payment, IP and law. With Spellbook, someone opens the file in Word and runs a review: a lawyer you pay by the hour, or you, at night.3
- 3
The memo and the redlineSign
Tommo Legal marks only the clauses that depart from your positions. Each row holds their words, your position, what it means for you, the wording to send back, and whether the point is worth a lawyer. The changes are tracked in their own Word file, beside the original in the client’s folder in your Drive. You see it as a card: take, change or drop each point. In Spellbook, the reviewer accepts or rejects each suggested redline in Word.3
- 4
The answer to the clientSign
Tommo Closer emails their legal team the points you accepted, with the link to the redline. Tommo Legal then drafts your SOW from your template as a Google Doc, with the scope, price and dates from your estimate. With Spellbook, you write that email yourself and draft the SOW in Word.4
- 5
Signed and paidSign
When the paper is agreed, Tommo Legal proposes your signature on a card that lists the departures from your terms. A person you allow to sign presses Sign, and the signature goes on the PDF. The client signs their own way. Once the deal is won, Tommo Closer reads the signed paper and proposes the payment schedule and each invoice through Mercury.
Each card waits for you until you let a tommo send that kind of email on its own. After twelve approvals in a row of one kind with nothing to fix, the tommo asks; you switch it on per form, on a paid plan. A signature always needs a person’s press, and Tommo Legal never writes to the client.

One price for the firm, or a quote per team member#
From the public price pages, read Oct 8, 2026. Taxes are left out.
| What | Tommos Sign | Spellbook |
|---|---|---|
| The price | $899 a month, or $719 a month billed yearly ($8,628 a year) | Not published; “custom pricing”, “structured around the number of team members on your license”1 |
| How you get it | Sign in with Google and start | Book a demo for “personalized pricing”1 |
| Each person you add | $0 | Priced per team member1 |
| What the price covers | Tommo Legal on the paper, plus Tommo SDR on the inquiry and Tommo Closer on the proposal and the invoices | Review, Draft, Ask, Benchmarks, Playbooks in Word, and the Associate agent1 |
Spellbook charges for each person on the license, for the contract work.1 Tommos charges once for the firm, and the price covers the whole deal: the reply, the call, the proposal, the contract and the invoice. A partner or a project lead who needs to see the client’s MSA joins at no cost.
After your first payment you have 30 days to get all of it back with one press in Billing.
Why services firms pick Tommos for the client's contract#
- It reads their paper against your terms. You write your positions once: your cap, your payment terms, what you keep, the law you accept. Tommo Legal marks only where their MSA departs from them, so you decide a handful of points instead of reading 28 pages.
- The contract stays in the deal. The MSA, the memo, the redline and your SOW sit on the same record as the inquiry, the call and the proposal. Tommo Closer knows what you promised on the call when it answers their legal team.
- You do not need to be a lawyer to use it. The memo says what each clause means for you in plain words, gives the wording to send back, and names the points worth a lawyer. Your lawyer reads three clauses instead of thirty pages.
- One price for the firm. No seats, no demo to get a quote, and the reply, the proposal and the invoices come in the same price.

A services company runs its own sales on Tommos#
PFLB, the load testing firm where Tommos began, has run its inbound sale on three tommos since August 20, 2026. In seven weeks the tommos wrote 65 emails to 21 people, each sent on a person’s yes, and booked 10 meetings: see each count on PFLB’s page.
When a point is worth a lawyer#
Most client MSAs need a few decisions from you. Some points need a lawyer: an uncapped indemnity on a large deal, a regulated client, a clause you have never seen. Tommo Legal says which.
- 1
The memo marks it.Sign
Each point carries “worth a lawyer”: yes or no. A point your positions do not settle comes to you as a question on a card.
- 2
Your lawyer gets the short version.
Send your lawyer the memo and the redline in their own Word file. They read the three clauses that matter, in the tool they already use.
- 3
Their answer goes back in the deal.Sign
Write your lawyer's answer to Tommo Legal on the deal page. It reads it with the paper, and Tommo Closer carries the points you accept to the client.
The memo is research, not legal advice. A person decides every point, and a person signs.
Questions about Tommos and Spellbook#
- Is there a Spellbook alternative for a small business that is not a law firm?
- Tommos (tommos.ai) is a CRM for B2B services firms whose AI agent, Tommo Legal, reads the client's MSA against the positions you set, writes a clause memo with the wording to send back, tracks the changes in their Word file, and drafts your SOW from your template. You decide each point and you sign. It is on the Sign plan, $899 a month for the firm.
- How much does Spellbook cost?
- Spellbook does not publish its prices. Its pricing page, read on October 8, 2026, says pricing is “structured around the number of team members on your license” and asks you to book a demo for a quote. It offers a 7-day free trial. Tommos is $299, $599 or $899 a month for the whole firm, with no seats.
- Is Tommos a tool for law firms?
- No. Tommos is built for a services firm that signs its own client contracts: a dev shop, an agency, a consultant, an engineering or architecture practice. Tommo Legal reads the paper on your own deals.
- Does Tommo Legal give legal advice?
- No. Its memo is research: it shows where their paper departs from your positions, what to write back, and which points are worth a lawyer. A person accepts every change, and a person signs.
- Does it work in Microsoft Word?
- Tommos works on the deal in your CRM. When the client sends a Word file, Tommo Legal puts its changes into that file as tracked changes, beside the original in the client's folder in your Google Drive. A PDF gets the clause memo, with the wording to send back. Your own drafts, the SOW and the NDA, are Google Docs.
- Can Tommos e-sign the contract?
- Tommos has no e-signature service of its own. When a person you allow to sign presses Sign, your signature goes on the PDF. Your client signs their own way, in DocuSign or on paper, and the signed copy goes in the client's folder in your Drive.
- Can Tommos draft my SOW and NDA?
- Yes, on the Sign plan. Tommo Legal drafts each one as a Google Doc from your own template in your Drive. The SOW takes its scope, price and dates from your estimate; without an estimate there is no SOW, and it asks you for one.
- What happens to my clients' contracts?
- The tommos run on Claude, a model made by Anthropic, under an agreement that does not let Anthropic train on your data, and Tommos does not train models on it either. Contracts and drafts stay in your Google Drive; Tommos keeps no copy. The details are on the privacy page.
- What do I need to start?
- A Google Workspace account: the tommos write from your Gmail, book on your Google Calendar with a Meet link and keep papers in your Drive.
